Men's Environmental Portrait Series「男性環境ポートレートシリーズ」

This series of environmental portraits was taken with a Nikon FA camera and manual 35mm F1.4 lens on black and white film in the 1990's. In those days, many working photographers carried at least two cameras, one for color slide film and one for black and white. Near the end of this series I had already become deeply involved in black and white Pinhole Photography, so this series technically ended. I often think about what became of gentlemen who agreed to pose for me and the few whom I snapped without them noticing me.

Most of the photos were taken on summer trips to the USA and Europe.
This is the first time to show these images publicly. (May 2026)

この一連の環境ポートレートは、1990年代前半ばまで代にニコンFAカメラとマニュアル35mm F1.4レンズを使用し、モノクロフィルムで撮影したものです。当時、多くのプロ写真家は、カラースライドフィルム(ポジ)とモノクロフィルム用の少なくとも2台のカメラを持ち歩いていました。このシリーズの終盤には、私はすでにモノクロピンホール写真に深く傾倒していたため、厳密にはこのシリーズはそこで終了しました。私にポーズをとってくれた紳士たち、そして私が気づかないうちに撮影した数少ない紳士たちがその後どうなったのか、私はよく考えます。

写真のほとんどは、アメリカとヨーロッパへの夏の旅行中に撮影されたものです。
これらの画像を一般公開するのは今回が初めてです。（2026年5月）
