Edo Photos

These photos were shown together on one wall at my recent photo exhibition in Tokyo Feb-March 2012. When selecting the photos for the show these images reminded me of the Eastern Japan Great Earthquake and Tsunami last year. All but the last one were taken in various places and years BEFORE the disaster but seemed to be a premonition of things to come. I offer them here as a prayer in remembrance on the anniversary of March 11, 2011 disaster.

これらの写真は、2012年2月から3月に開催した東京・銀座での写真展で、一壁に組み合わせて展示された作品です。展示写真を選び出しているとき、これらの写真は
私に、昨年の東日本大震災と津波を呼び起こしました。最後の写真以外の他のすべては、災害以前の何年か前に、何カ所かで撮影した写真ですが、
何かの災害が発生することを予知していたかのように思われます。私はここに、2011年3月11日の追悼としてこれらの写真を捧げます。
