WHY?
Just about every serious gaijin band in Japan has done a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to raise money to fund an album or video. So now our turn.
We are aiming to raise funds for a video for our bossa nova song about yoga called Yoga Undercover/Dirty Downward Dog. The video is to be made in NYC by Positively 4th Street Productions this summer. They have a lot of pedigree - won a Grand Prix prize at the prestigious SXSW Festival for production - and made my last video there in 2011.
We could do it on the cheap and made a decent video, or get funding from people interested in the project from around the world, and make something special. Ideally. we pay someone to market the song and video when it's done and go Gangnam Yoga Style. I just need to figure out a new dance.
To launch the Kickstarter Campaign, we are having a kick off LAUNCH PARTY on Friday July 24th at Crawfish Livehouse in Akasaka.
It's a special event as we have 3 live music performances, film and comedy, all by international acts.
COMEDY: We have the original LOL comedienne, Spring Day, who will soon head off to perform for a week at world-renowned Edinburgh Festival.
FILM: We have a short that has just won awards in the LA Independent Film Festival, called "Tokyo Story" by American author, film maker and pinhole photographer, Ed Levinson.
LIVE MUSIC: We have an early dinner solo set at 715pm; then an 8-piece Gravy Train at 9pm, followed by the funk and harmonies of the North American Songbook that is Soulplay at 10.15pm.
The songs itself is my own particular favourites both musically and lyrically and its the most unique song I have written.
The Kickstarter in basically a litmus test. If there is no interest in the idea itself then there will be no point in doing a video. So, if any of this looks interesting, come down to the gig.

日本のほとんどのバンドは、現在、音楽活動の資金集めのために、キック・スターターのような資金調達（インターネットなどを通じて多数の支持者・ファンから少しずつ資金集め）をしています。
たとえば、1人1000円の募金が、アルバムやビデオの製作費となります。私たちも今後、こういった方法で音楽活動を続けていくつもりでいます。
NYでのビデオ制作を考えています。ビデオの内容は、私たちの歌の中でもとても興味深く面白い、ヨガについてのボサノバソングです。歌詞にたくさんのヨガのポーズ（ライオン、サンダーボルトなど）登場します。
制作ビデオディレクターは、、最近サウス・バイ・サウスウエスト（毎年3月にアメリカテキサス州オースティン市で行なわれる、音楽祭・映画祭・インタラクティブフェスティバルなどを組み合わせた大規模イベント)で賞を取った有名人です。
私たちも、この制作ビデオがYouTubeで大ヒットすることを望んでいます。
このキャンペーンを開始するにあたり、7月24日(金)に赤坂のCrawfishライブハウスでパーティーを開催します。
こちらのイベントは、国際的な音楽、映画、コメディーを含む3つのライブミュージックが融合したスペシャルイベントです。
コメディ：Spring Day (スプリングデイ)。アメリカの有名なコメディアン。エディンバラフェスティバルのコメディイベントでベストコメディアンに選ばれました。
